Soundguard Acoustics Ltd was appointed to the interesting challenge of measuring driver noise exposure on the 13o year old Lynton & Lynmouth Cliff Railway. The Control of Noise at Work Regulations 2005 (CONAWR) is the current standard relating to the noise exposure of employees. We all know that manufacturing and engineering may be perceived as ‘noisy’ businesses but workplace noise assessment requirements cover a wider range of industries such as the entertainment sector, call centres, food and drink, forestry and 1000’s of other workplaces deemed to be noisy. Soundguard Acoustics worked with the employees, and chief engineer Ashley Clarke of this famous water powered railway to work through the driving, maintenance and motion processes at the cliff railway, including workshop related tasks of welding operations, grinding, milling and other typical engineering  noise sources. Fortunately the driver noise exposure does not breach the workplace noise regulations and no further precautions were necessary, the workshop safety equipment was also current and suitable for the typical engineering processes undertaken at the site. If you need assistance with your workplace noise risk assessment then Soundguard Acoustics Ltd can assist by providing full workplace noise risk assessments to determine the noise exposure of your employees & provide a detailed action plan of noise mitigation & control. We provide solutions that are not only ‘fit for purpose’ but are practical, achievable, sensible & appropriate to your workplace.Sounds good? what now? Contact us today on 0845 653 0233 or email info@soundguard.co.uk and let’s make everything sound just right.
