Approved Document E of the Building Regulations was amended in July 2003 to include housing, flats, rooms for residential purposes and schools. The objectives of the revised Approved Document E, Resistance to the passage of sound was to provide a comprehensive guide for achieving for architects, building control officers and others involved in the design of new buildings and conversions.
